I started using my new ATT service about one month ago, and I currently use a smartphone mobile hotspot to connect my laptop. Everything is good, but the only problem is downloading updates for a certain software program. I called Tech Support for that certain software program and they told me that the software company (and everyone else) recently changed their security protocol from SSL to TLS, so that now in order for me to get their software updates, I need to use TLS security and port 80.
They also said AT&T won't allow the updates to be downloaded because AT&T is blocking port 80 and/or does not use TLS.
Anyhoo, I tried to change my mobile phone hotspot security from "WPA2" to "TLS" but there is no TLS option. Is TLS something that I could change on my cellphone hotspot setup options?
If I tether my cellphone to my laptop using a cable will this be a workaround to my problem?
Or, can AT&T change things to allow me to downlaod software updates that use TLS and/or port 80?
Is there something else I can do to reconfigure my hotspot or my AT&T service so that it works right?
Has anyone else had this problem?
